A thought

Considering the ongoing epistemological debate regarding nature vs. nurture that has taken place over decades, the concept and thought of us being born as "blank slates" is something that doesn't fit.

Our biology, physiology and psychology ought to hold more credit than this theory allows.

Therefore Tabula Rasa and human beings?

I don't think so.

  1. Hey you... So I've been meaning to comment on this for a long time. I miss our debates muchly.

Tabula Rasa was more of a philosophical concept than anything else... I think the idea is that children are born "pure".

I know we've studied otherwise but I really do think it's more nurture than nature that defines human beings.

Having said that, you're right, it doesn't hold true but I think I would prefer parents all over to believe it and keep it in mind when they bring up their kids. More responsibility. More accountability. I'm not preaching good parenting. I'm saying that children are moulded.

    Good?
